What conscious trim actually does

Intentional trim does more than decorate. It’s the Bold and Italics in a book: it frames openings, guides your eye through the space, and makes rooms feel designed instead of thrown together.

  • Frames doors and windows so they look finished, not stuck in drywall

  • Hides gaps and movement so your home ages better and feels solid

  • Ties rooms together so your main floor feels like one planned space, not a mix of add‑ons

Why HeartGrain?

Owner‑operated finish carpentry, built on years of hands‑on site work and Red Seal training. I focus on interior trim, doors, and built‑ins, taking the time to get the details right so you don’t have to think about them again.

 FAQs

  • For most work I give a fixed written quote based on your specific rooms and details, so you know the price before I start. Smaller “Door & Trim Tune‑Up” style jobs may be a simple day rate.

  • For homeowner projects, I normally supply the trim, doors, and hardware. That way I can control fit, quality, and availability, and you have one point of contact if something needs attention later. If you’ve already bought something specific, let me know and I’ll tell you if I can install it as a one‑off, but I can’t warranty products I didn’t supply.

For builders and GCs, I typically work labour‑only with materials supplied as part of your package, based on your plans and specs. For builders and GCs, I typically work labour‑only with materials supplied as part of your package, based on your plans and specs.

  • Most small projects are booked 1–4 weeks out and take 1–3 days on site. Larger main‑floor upgrades are scheduled further ahead; I’ll give you an estimated start and finish date with your quote.

  • Floors and surfaces are protected, I keep tools and offcuts organized, and I clean up at the end of each day so your home isn’t a construction zone any longer than it has to be.

  • If I uncover hidden issues (bad framing, out‑of‑level cabinets, etc.) I’ll stop, show you, explain the options, and agree any extra work and cost in writing before proceeding so there are no surprises.

  • Yes. Most trim, door, and built‑in work comes with a 1‑ or 3‑year workmanship warranty under normal use. If something moves or needs a tweak, I’ll come back and make it right.
